PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent material with such characteristics that HMGB1 in the body fluid is highly efficiently adsorbed and removed, and that blood cells such as leukocytes and thrombocytes necessary for the vital reaction are not removed. SOLUTION: The body fluid purifying adsorbent material is characterized by an adsorbent body with anionic functional groups immobilized to a water-insoluble carrier which highly efficiently adsorbs HMGB1 in the body fluid, but does not substantially adsorb at least either leukocytes or thrombocytes.
