<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image carrier and an intermediate transfer body exposed from an image forming unit from being touched with a hand or damaged. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 10, a sheet of protection paper 101 attached to the image forming unit 96 can be ejected from a space between the image forming unit 96 and an image forming apparatus body 12 after installing the image forming unit 96 in the image forming apparatus body 12.
