PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dynamically increase the number of distribution objects to which contents should be distributed. SOLUTION: This contents distribution system 30 comprises an AV server 31 for storing a plurality of types of contents, and for distributing the plurality of types of contents and a plurality of contents reproducing devices 32 to 35 with gateway functions connected to the AV server 31 for receiving the contents selected from the plurality of types of contents from the AV server 31 for output. At the time of redistributing musical piece contents to the contents receiving devices 41 and 42 connected to the contents reproducing devices 32 to 35 with gateway functions, the musical piece contents are outputted after protocol conversion is executed. Thus, the musical piece contents are redistributed to the plurality of types of contents receiving devices without being restricted by the number of the contents reproducing devices 32 to 35 with gateway functions, and to increase the number of contents distribution.
