PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging device which obtains an optical black level stable irrespective of an exposure time, and to provide a signal processing method. SOLUTION: The solid state imaging device 100 includes a first optical black level pixel 4 which is formed under a light shielding film and which does not have a photoelectric conversion function, and a photodetecting surface having a second optical black level pixel 5 with a photoelectric conversion function. The signal processing method for determining the optical black level includes a step of selectively clamping any of an output signal from the first optical black level pixel 4, and an output signal from the second optical black level pixel 5 according to the exposure time and the two black levels.
