PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music selecting device capable of selecting music through easy operation and a music reproducing device. SOLUTION: When an image is received (S30: Yes), character string recognition from the image is performed (S32) and a recognized character string is displayed on a display unit 40 (S34). When an indication for correction of the displayed character string is received through a communication part 28, the character string is corrected (S36) and a corrected character string is re-displayed (S38). When an indication for retrieval of a musical piece based upon the displayed character string is received through the communication part 28, the retrieval from a musical piece database stored on a hard disk 30 is performed and the name of the retrieved musical piece, a singer's name, a composer, etc., retrieved with the character string are displayed (S40).
