PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in the optical connection of an optical fiber caused by dust, while realizing improvement in the safety of an optical connector. SOLUTION: A shutter 14, constituted of double swinging type doors 15, is provided at the optical connector insertion port 5 of the housing 2 of the optical adapter 1. The doors 15 are constituted to be pressed and opened to both the right and the left sides by the optical connector 3 inserted from the outside. Elastic hinge parts, generating elastic force in a direction where the doors 15, are restored to a closed state when the doors 15 are made open are provided on the opening/closing operation fulcrum sides of the doors 15. While the optical connector 3 is fit, the ends on the opening/closing movable sides of the doors 15 are positioned at the right and left outside positions of the edge parts of arms 6 and press the edge parts of the arms 6 inside by the elastic restoring force of the elastic hinge parts. When the optical connector 3 is pulled out from the optical adapter 1, the ends on the opening/closing movable sides of the doors 15 are displaced to the inside position from the right and left outside positions of the edge parts of the arms 6, to perform closing operation by the elastic restoring force of the elastic hinge parts.
