PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine oil passage structure for stabilizing the operation of a variable valve timing mechanism. SOLUTION: An oil control valve mounting face 25b is provided on a timing chain case 25, and an oil filter 23 is installed in an advance side oil passage 5b communicated with the advance port of an oil control valve mounted on the oil control valve mounting face 25b. Foreign matters are removed from between the oil control valve and an actuator by an oil filter 23. Thus, the malfunction of the oil control valve due to the biting of the foreign matters into the oil control valve is prevented to stabilize the operation of the variable valve timing mechanism.
