A hammer mill comprises a horizontally rotating rotor, a mill crushing zone and a separator in which a guide baffle plate is mounted, being first downstream the flow, an additional chute is provided between the first guide baffle plate and the separator wall connecting the separator zone with the mill crushing zone such that a remainder material bin is formed between the plate and the wall. The separator wall is inclined to the horizontal line where it forms the bin so that the remainder particles are conveyed across the upstream flow.
