PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use specific functions of an image output device through an image supply device.

SOLUTION: An image output device 1 connects a character string indicating functions the image input device 1 has with a character string indicating the vendor's name or product name of the image input device 1 and transmits the character string obtained by the connection to an image supply device 2 as the character string of the vendor's name or product name of the image input device 1. The image supply device 2 receives the character string of the vendor's name and product name of the image input device 1 and extracts the character string indicating the functions the image input device 1 has from the character string thus received.
