<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant and an antioxidant obtained by using plants as a main raw material which is effective for preventing bad smell or deterioration of food products and does not adversely affect the human body, the natural environment or the like, and also to provide a means to manufacture the deodorant and the antioxidant at low cost without using chemical products by using the knowledge of Alpinia plants having excellent deodorant and antioxidant property. <P>SOLUTION: The antioxidant contains dry powder of Alpinia plants, powder or liquid antioxidant produced from dried squeezed liquid or dried extracted liquid of Alpinia plants or extracted liquid.
