<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive lens unit with simple structure, and having less possibility of failure which enables a camera to be thin when the unit is retracted and the lens surface to be protected, and to provide a camera with the lens unit. <P>SOLUTION: The lens unit has a photographing optical system and lens protection means for protecting the object side surface of the photographing optical system, wherein the lens unit is characterized in that the photographing optical system and the lens protection means are driven by the same drive source, and switching is made such that, when either of them is at a position on a photographing optical axis, the other is at a position retreated from the photographing optical axis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
