PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector that prevents a contact of a plug from touching a post that does not correspond to a receptacle even when a force to remove the plug from the receptacle in a slanting direction is applied. SOLUTION: A projection 47 to be guided and a guide cutout 75 that come in contact with each other to prevent misalignment of the plug 1 are provided respectively for a plug shell and a receptacle shell 7 each made of metal. Since the plug shell having the projection 47 and the receptacle shell 7 having the guide cutout 75 are each made of metal, the mechanical strength of the portion that prevents misalignment of the plug 1 is improved as compared with the case where the portion that prevents misalignment of the plug 1 is made of a synthetic resin. This results in resistance to breakage even if a force to remove the plug 1 from the receptacle 2 in a slanting direction is applied, so that the function of preventing misalignment is hardly impaired.
