PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to handle a facsimile machine for communicating using an IP address in the same way as in handling a conventional facsimile machine for communicating using a telephone number. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine 100 comprises a data acquiring unit 118 for acquiring facsimile data to be transmitted, an accepting unit 102 for accepting the designated address of a transmission destination terminal as a digit string similar to the telephone number, a domain name generating unit 108 for generating a domain name containing the digit string, an IP address acquiring unit 110 for acquiring the IP address corresponding to the domain name from a predetermined server, and a telephone connection transmission processing unit 116 for transmitting facsimile data to the IP address via an IP network 130.
