METHOD FOR CONTROLLING OPTICAL DISK REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten starting time of an optical disk device by reducing time required for determination of presence/absence of a disk and to optimally stop rotation of disks with any outer diameter size by performing rotation stop control of a spindle motor according to the outer diameter size of the disk in a method for controlling the optical disk device. SOLUTION: Counter-electromotive voltage when the optical disk 13 is rotated through inertia is measured by a counter-electromotive voltage detection circuit 16, the presence/absence of the disk is discriminated using inclination which is an amount of variation of the counter-electromotive voltage per hour and the starting time of the optical disk device is shortened by reducing the time required for determination of the presence/absence of the disk.
