PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen preparation device capable of preventing the complication of a driving mechanism for moving a cassette to a storage position (horizontal position) of a slide glass. SOLUTION: This blood smear preparation device (specimen preparation device) 100 comprises a cassette holding part 61 for holding the cassette 3 including a slide glass storage hole 3a for storing a slide glass 10 that is a sample, and a cassette rotating mechanism part 6a for rotating the cassette holding part 61 between a first position in which the cassette 3 is substantially vertically held and a second position in which the cassette 3 is substantially horizontally held, and the slide glass 10 is stored in the slide glass storage hole 3a of the cassette 3.
