PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily survey soil contaminated with organic compounds of oil contents, etc. SOLUTION: The concentration of carbon dioxide gas is measured at a soil surface layer part, and the state of contamination with organic compounds of oil contents etc. is estimated, on the basis of its measurement value. Suction pipes are inserted in the soil surface layer part, at each location in an area to be surveyed to collect soil gases from the soil surface layer part through the suction pipes and measure the concentration of carbon dioxide gas. By analyzing the distribution of the concentration of carbon dioxide gas at the soil surface layer part at each location, the state of contamination such as the location of a contamination source and the degree and range of contamination is estimated.
