PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of enhancing safety when using a flammable refrigerant. SOLUTION: This refrigerator has a refrigeration cycle 19 using the flammable refrigerant as a refrigerant, a refrigerator main body 1 is constituted of the first top panel part 15, and the second top panel 17 provided in a position lower than the first top panel part 15 in a refrigerator outer case backface 16 side, a compressor 8 is arranged in an upper space part of the second top panel 17, a condenser 5 and a machine room cover 18 for covering the compressor 8 are provided, and the safety is enhanced since the refrigerant flowing into a lower side inside a machine room 9 due to a density difference to air is discharge-diffused quickly into the atmospheric air without staying there, by providing an opening part 27 on a side wall face or a backwall face in the machine room cover 18, when the flammable refrigerant is leaked from the compressor 8 or the condenser 5, in the case where the refrigerant of density higher than that of air is used as the refrigerant.
