PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and speedily load a mortar from a breech of a barrel. SOLUTION: Rifling groove 214 for rotating a cannonball 20 is formed on an inner wall of the barrel 211 of the mortar 210. As shown in Fig. 2, the cannonball 20 consists of a nose part 21 and a gunpowder part 22 engaged with the head part via an engaging member 23. A protrusion 25 for meshing with the rifling groove 214 is formed at the head part 21 of the cannonball 20. At the breech 213 of the cannonball 211, a guide 220 for guiding the cannonball 20 from the breech 213 into the barrel 211 of the mortar 210 is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
