PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthogonal beam unit ensuring high strength as a structure capable of transmitting shearing force and bending stress by rigidly joining orthogonal parts of beams in a beam-priority steel frame and enhancing the degree of design freedom by realizing the frame allowing a column to be connected to the rigidly joined orthogonal parts. SOLUTION: In this orthogonal beam unit 1, an orthogonal web 12 is formed by orthogonally placing a web 121 in a ridge direction and a web 122 in a span direction and integrally joining them by welding, and orthogonal flanges 13 each formed integrally of one plate in the ridge direction and span direction are welded and joined to both upper and lower edges of the orthogonal web 12, respectively. The mutual orthogonal parts of the beams 50 are rigidly joined by fastening the ends of the orthogonal web 12 and orthogonal flanges 13 to the ends of the respective beams 50 by bolts and nuts 80 through splice plates 70.
