PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which enables a printing plate to be attached to an outer peripheral part of a plate cylinder, without the occurrence of a sag in the printing plate, and which can prevent scum from adhering to the printing plate. SOLUTION: This printer is equipped with a first plate cylinder 11 around which a press roller 120 is arranged. The press roller 120 is connected to a press roller moving mechanism 130 for moving the press roller 120 between a pressing position close to the outer peripheral part of the plate cylinder 11, and a standby position away from the outer peripheral part of the plate cylinder 11. When the press roller 120 is arranged in the standby position, a section between the press roller 120 and the plate cylinder 11 is shielded by a shielding member 140 which is connected to a shielding member moving mechanism 150.
