A mixing apparatus for mixing a first ingredient with a second ingredient comprises a mixing tank in which the first and second ingredients are mixed, a mixing unit which mixes the first and second ingredients, a conveyor for conveying the first ingredient to the mixing tank, a supply assembly for conveying the second ingredient to the mixing tank, an outlet assembly which is connectable to an outlet port in the mixing tank and which comprises an outlet conduit, and a viscosity sensor which is positioned in the outlet assembly between the outlet port and the outlet conduit.
