Device for transferring a substance in the form of a film on a support strip onto a substrate such as a sheet of writing or drawing paper comprises a housing containing a supply reel for the film-coated support strip and an empty reel for receiving the support strip from which the film has been removed. The film-coated support strip is guided via an application base (1) having an application edge (3) around which the support strip is wound. The application base has lateral guide webs (8) at least on the upper side parallel to the running direction of the support strip. The guide webs are provided on the upper side of the application base in the area contingent to the application edge with recesses (9) that are open toward the front in the direction of the application edge. Preferred Features: The recesses taper inward from the application edge in a triangular shape. The front end (8b) of the guide web above the recesses lies in a plane with the application edge. The guide webs are approximately triangular.
