<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus with which noise caused by gear vibration due to collision is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus forms a color image in such a manner that attachable/detachable developing units having respective developing means for supplying respective toner to a photoreceptor are switched for each color and images are superimposed onto the photoreceptor. In the image forming apparatus, a drive source for driving the developing means of each developing unit and a drive transmission means are held by the main body of the image forming apparatus. Play in the direction of rotation is provided at least in one place within the drive transmission means so as to have an idling space where, when driving starts from the drive source, the drive is not transmitted to the opposite side unit the play is filled. In addition, the apparatus is provided with a restricting part for restricting the amount of play, and an abutting part abutting on the restricting part. The restricting part or the abutting part has, in the contact part of the restricting part and abutting part, a face inclined by 10° to 80° or 110° to 170° to the direction of the tangent of a rotation circumference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
