<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which lessens the restriction of the function of a power converter by the overheat of a diode element in power generating operation, and is high in power generation efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: In a power generation mode where a generator-motor 6 generates power and a diode element 4 rectifies it, a synchronous commutation gate signal generating circuit 12 detects conductive ones out of diode elements 4, based on the output signal of a current sensor 11 loaded in the AC power line of the generator-motor 6, and turns on a switching element 3 connected in parallel with the diode element 4. Hereby, this converter lets a great part of the current of the diode element 4 flow to the switching element 3 thereby reducing the heat generation of the diode element 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
