<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a plasma display panel which suppresses increase in the luminance of black and reduces the writing period, while securing stable writing operation. <P>SOLUTION: One field period is constituted of a plurality of sub-fields, having an initialization period, a write period and a maintenance period, and during the initialization period of each sub-field, either the whole cell initialization operation or selective initialization operation is performed; and the time for generating write discharge of the head sub-field constituting one field is set long and the time for making write discharge of the sub-field generated for performing the selective initialization operation is set shorter than or equal to that for making write discharge of the preceding sub-field generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
