PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of inconformity between the control information described in a control file and the image information stored in a built-in RAM. SOLUTION: An electronic camera comprises a function that reads and reproduces image data from an external memory 9 where the image data and the control information about the image data are stored. It comprises an ASIC6 or the like that performs a process for detecting the maximum number of sheets of reproduction, a process that selects the image data related to the control information and generates a first list information, a process that generates a differential information based on the information about maximum number of sheets of reproduction that is detected and the information of number of sheets corresponding to the first list information, and selects the image data of the number corresponding to the differential information under a prescribed condition to generate a second information about the selected picture data for generating a third list information which is the list information for maximum number of sheets of reproduction based on the first and second list information.
