PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of displaying an object and an auxiliary photography line while superposing without requiring a superposition circuit. SOLUTION: Object information entering through an imaging lens 10 is converted into an image signal and supplied to an image memory 19 where a decision is made whether the image signal thus supplied is a recording image signal or a display image signal. If an auxiliary photography line is on, pixels constituting the display image signal are subjected to scanning. Assuming the positional information of the pixel is (x, y), an auxiliary photography line is displayed by overwriting color information for a pixel having a preset x coordinate or y coordinate value. Since the above-mentioned processing is carried out by executing a program in a CPU 16, a superposition circuit of the image signal and an identification signal for indicating the auxiliary photography line is not required resulting in reduction in size and cost of the imaging apparatus.
