PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information quite useful for a vehicle driver with a unripe drive technique such as whether or not the vehicle can easily pass a location where lane traffic jam is occurring in the opposite lane. SOLUTION: A control device provided on the car navigation system indicates a road map screen, acquires traffic jam information through a VICS receiver and extracts the traffic jam information concerning the opposite lane in the progressing direction of the own car from the reception contents (A1 to A3). Then, car width information of the own car is acquired (A4) and in a passing difficulty judging process routine A5, road width information on the jam occurrence location is acquired on the basis of the acquired traffic jam information and the map data, and the passing difficulty of the own car at the jam occurrence location is judge on the basis of the road width information and the car width information on the own car. Furthermore, the jam occurrence locations with the judged results higher than the set level are stored and the stored locations are indicated on the road map screen as passage caution parts.
