PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a noise quantity can be accurately estimated using a noise quantity model corresponding not only to a signal level but also to a dynamically changing factor. SOLUTION: An imaged video signal is transferred to a pre-processing section 103 and transferred to an image buffer 104 after applying sampling, gain amplification and A/D conversion thereto. The video signal in the image buffer 104 is transferred to a noise estimation section 106. The noise estimation section 106 estimates a noise quantity for each ISO sensitivity and for each chrominance signal based on photographing conditions, the video signal and a reference noise model. The calculated noise quantity is transferred to a noise reduction section 105. The noise reduction section 105 performs noise reduction processing on the video signal in the image buffer 104 based on the noise quantity estimated by the noise estimation section 106, and transfers the video signal after noise reduction processing to a signal processing section 108.
