PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion, having high sensitivity, giving high contrast gradation and superior granularity, and to provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material using the same. SOLUTION: In the silver halide emulsion, comprising a dispersion medium and silver halide grains,≥50% of the total projected area of the silver halide grains satisfies the following (i) to (iii) conditions: (i) hexagonal tabular grains, having (111) plane as the main plane and a shape with a major-to-minor side length ratio of≤2.0, as seen from a direction perpendicular to the main planes; (ii) the hexagonal tabular grains, as hosts, have epitaxial bonding on at least one of the vertexes of the hexagon; and (iii) when the equivalent spherical diameter of the host grains is represented by D and that of the epitaxial bonding part present on the host grain vertex by d, the grains have the relation 0.030≤d÷D≤0.500.
