PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a polypyrrole film by a method of an electrolytic polymerization using a perchlorate ion (ClO<SB>4</SB><SP>-</SP>) as a supporting electrolyte, wherein the film has a large degree of shrinkage and a strong mechanical strength. SOLUTION: The method for preparing a polypyrrole film by an electrolytic polymerization comprises formation of a conductive polymer film on a working electrode by impressing a voltage between the working electrode and the counter electrode using an electrolyte containing pyrrole and/or a pyrrole derivative as a monomer component, an aromatic ester as a solvent and the perchlorate ion as the electrolyle.
