摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic optical crystal waveguide with which a machining process is simplified and a method of machining with sufficiently high accuracy is applicable and to provide a method of manufacturing the inorganic optical crystal waveguide. SOLUTION: The inorganic optical crystal waveguide is composed of: a KTa<SB>0.35</SB>Nb<SB>0.66</SB>O<SB>3</SB>substrate 11; an under cladding layer 12 which is formed by an epitaxial growth on the KTa<SB>0.35</SB>Nb<SB>0.66</SB>O<SB>3</SB>substrate 11 and provided with a groove 12a; and a core layer 13 which is formed by the epitaxial growth on the under cladding layer 12, has a refractive index larger than that of the under cladding layer 12 and guides light. The core layer 13 is so formed as to be projected to the under cladding layer 12 in a form of a reversed ridge. Thus, a very useful result is obtained because an optical waveguide having a quality higher than that manufactured by a conventional method is manufactured and the characteristic of the optical device is increased.
