PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable telephone set, wherein a flip serves as a protective cover for the display part of liquid crystal or the like, while keeping the size and the mass of the flip approximately as that of conventional, when turning the flip of the portable telephone set multi-functional. SOLUTION: In the style where a flip also functions as an independent stand and becomes a portable telephone set grip mechanism, a display part is provided together so as to vertically slide on a guide way provided in a body, while overlapping on an operating part; and when the flip is housed, it becomes a protective cover for the display part.
