PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector capable of securing reliability of movement and stop of a retainer. SOLUTION: Locked parts 51 are formed on side pieces 53 of the retainer 50; and tentative lock parts 17 for retaining the retainer 50 at a tentative lock position by elastically engaging with the locked parts 51 and regular lock parts 18 for retaining it at a regular lock position are juxtaposed on retainer mounting surfaces 19 of a female housing 10. Each regular lock part 18 has a movement guide surface 18B tilting along the moving direction of the retainer 50 headed from the regular lock position to the tentative lock position and each tentative lock part 17 has a coming-off restriction surface 17E nearly perpendicular to the moving direction of the retainer 50 from its root to its tip.
