PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive capable of sufficiently preventing a data recording failure by suppressing the use of the type of a disk incompatible to a drive. SOLUTION: This optical disk drive 1 displays compatibility with a drive main body based on storage characteristic information stored in a storage part 2a before the recording of data in an optical disk 10. Thus, a user recognizes the setting of the optical disk 10 incompatible to the drive main body, and prevented from recording data in the optical disk 10 incompatible to the drive main body to fail in data recording, and usability is improved for the user.
