PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide similar friction characteristic to that of a ring-like friction material by reducing or eliminating a clearance between adjacent segment pieces of a segment friction material. SOLUTION: A segment piece 3 in a guide 6 is pushed out and is put on a rotary plate 8, and cut-out parts 3c of both outer peripheral corner parts of the segment piece 3 are fitted into two positioning pins 10, are positioned on the rotary plate 8, are sucked by a pair of positioning suction holes 9 on a lower face of the segment piece 3, and are fixed. The rotary plate 8 rotates by 18 degrees and this rotation is repeated. When filled by 20 segment pieces 3 like a ring, two suction heads of a suction travel mechanism are each sucked on a surface of each segment piece 3, and suction by the positioning suction holes 9 is simultaneously stopped. 20 segment pieces 3 arranged like a ring by the suction travel mechanism are lifted, move in parallel, are pressed against a core metal unit 2 on which adhesive is applied on the whole surface, and are bonded.
