<p>Production of a liquid clay with which free picture drawing can be performed on painting materials such as a drawing board and a paper board with the use of a spatula, the drawn picture exhibiting the aesthetic property of oil painting. The production is characterized in that vegetable fine powder and sodium alginate or a material whose effect and properties are the same as those of sodium alginate are added to an aqueous solution of CMC (carboxymethylcellulose) or a material whose effect and properties are the same as those of CMC and milled so as to obtain a liquid clay precursor of state suitable for application with a spatula and that a pigment is added to the liquid clay precursor to thereby obtain a liquid clay.</p>
