<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust tempo so that there is no sense of incongruity in the case of performing automatic musical performance while changing tempo using waveform data which is recorded beforehand. <P>SOLUTION: Original waveform data is divided into a plurality of original sections 1r to 6r as shown in (b) of the figure at each timing, such as the rising of an envelope waveform. Then, insertion sections 1i to 6i each having an envelope which has, as an initial value, the level of an envelope in the completion end of each original section and which attenuates with time, are generated in such a manner that they are made to correspond to the respective original sections.
