PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking brake mechanism integrally incorporated in a disc brake caliper assembly, capable of solving problems of conventional technology that in a ball-lamp type assembly, its spacial general utility is limited as the aligning of an input shaft to a piston substantially in the axial direction is needed, and in a direct driving assembly, functions are limited as it comprises a cam type lever which is disadvantageous as a range of mechanical efficiency is limited.
SOLUTION: This parking brake mechanism has a piston assembly slidably supported in a caliper main body. In the caliper main body, a first gear can be rotated around a first axis, and a second gear can be rotated around a second axis. The first axis and the second axis are approximately vertical to each other. The ball-lamp assembly is mounted to be operated between the second gear and the piston assembly. The ball-lamp assembly energizes the parking brake mechanism by converting the rotational displacement of the second gear into the axial displacement of the piston assembly.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
|
