PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing unit having an elastic blade body capable of increasing the straightness of a rubber body that is in contact with a developing roller. SOLUTION: A developing blade that is brought into pressure contact with the developing roller 55 is constructed such that the elastic blade body 68 is held between a support plate 69 and a pressing plate 70, the elastic blade body 68 being a belt-like metal thin plate and having a narrow rubber body 72 projecting from the lower edge section of the metal thin plate. A bend 73 is made in the lower edge section of the metal thin plate in such a manner that the metal thin plate is bent sideways by a prescribed amount from a straight bending crease. The rubber body 72 is disposed along the bending crease of the bend 73. The flatness of the bend 73 is enhanced and strength is improved. This increases the straightness of the rubber body 72.
