摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device of high quality and a driving method thereof that solve the problems, wherein a liquid crystal display device deteriorates in image quality as display unevenness, such as luminance gradient and longitudinal smear are generated, when a counter electrode signal is inverted in each frame cycle, in a blanking period after a signal voltage is held and when there is the possibility flickers being generated at a low frequency. SOLUTION: The display device, having a plurality of signal lines (D1, D2 to Dn) crossing a plurality of scanning lines (G1, G2 to Gn), a plurality of counter electrode lines (COM1, COM2 to COMn) which are parallel to the scanning lines, a plurality of pixels (3) arranged at intersections, a scanning drive circuit (1) which applies a scanning signal to the scanning lines, and a signal drive circuit (2) which applies a signal voltage to the signal lines, is equipped with a counter electrode signal generating circuit (5) which generates a counter electrode signal as a signal for inversion between a plus counter electrode voltage (VCOMA) and a negative counter electrode voltage (VCOMB) and a counter electrode drive circuit (4), which applies the counter electrode voltage to the counter electrode lines, with the counter electrode drive circuit (4) being controlled with the scanning signal outputted by the scanning drive circuit.
