PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide storage systems, the price and performance of which are suitable for system scales from small to large scale configurations. SOLUTION: A protocol converter 10 and a cache controller 21 are connected through a mutual connection network 31. The cache controller 21 is divided into a plurality of control clusters 70, one of which includes at least two or more cache controllers 21. A cache memory 111 is controlled independently for every control cluster 70. Either one of the cache controllers 21 manages the protocol converter 10 and the plurality of control clusters 70 as one system based on management information stored in a management information storage part 160.
