A central suction generating source (4) is connected to the spinning positions (2) of a multi-position open-end spinning machine through a suction duct (7) divided into several sections (8, 9) along its length. The ducts to the sections can be provided by internal partitions dividing a pipe into segments. Valves (26) control the pressure levels to provide the required flows.
