<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antireflection film which will not cause white blurs, image blurs, and garish phenomenon, a polarizing plate which has high visibility and a larger field angle (specially, a downward field angle) and is nearly free of contrast decrease, gradation or black-and-white inversion, color phase variation, etc., due to field angle variation, and to provide a liquid crystal display which uses the antireflection film and polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The antireflection film has a hard coat layer and a low-refractive-index layer on a transparent base, and the hard coat layer contains a binder and translucent particles having a different refractive index from the binder; and the antireflection film has ≤0.10 μm surface roughness Ra, and the low-refractive-index layer contains hollow silica particulates of 5 to 200 nm in mean particle size and 1.17 to 1.40 in refractive index. The polarizing plate uses this antireflection film as one protective film, and the liquid crystal display device uses the antireflection film or polarizing plate for the outermost layer of a display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
