PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system and an image display method for enabling a user to easily create a memorandum regarding a received image. SOLUTION: A CPU 105 analyzes data in a storage 101, acquires character information for indicating a character on a screen generated by the data, character position information for indicating the position on the screen of the character, and image data, and relates the character information to the character position information. A communication device 102 transmits the character information, the character position information, and the image data to communication terminal equipment 200 at a reception side. A display 204 displays an image corresponding to the transmitted image data in a received image display region. When an input device 203 receives a selection instruction for selecting the character on the received image display region, a CPU 205 detects the position on the image of the selected character, and displays the character indicated by the character information related to the character position information for indicating the detected position on a memorandum input region.
