PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of managing the term of guarantee of a recorder. SOLUTION: In the system for managing the term of guarantee of a recorder comprising an ink cartridge and a recorder being loaded with the ink cartridge, the ink cartridge has a section recorded with information pertaining to the term of guarantee of the recorder, and the recorder has a section for acquiring the information pertaining to the term of guarantee from the recording section of the ink cartridge when it is loaded, and a section for storing the guarantee information thus acquired. The system further comprises a casing for packaging the ink cartridge and the recorder under a state where the information pertaining to the term of guarantee is initialized, a shock absorbing material for holding the ink cartridge in the casing in the vicinity thereof, and a section for writing at least information pertaining to the date as information pertaining to the term of guarantee into the recording section of the ink cartridge from the outside of the casing under a state where the ink cartridge is packaged in the casing.
