PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a POS system and a printer, which allow a shop to be recognized wherein a POS terminal has been stolen or wrongfully moved. SOLUTION: Settlement processing of a card is performed by a POS terminal 1. Present location information of the POS terminal is acquired by a GPS reception device 3 provided in the POS terminal 1. It is determined whether or not the present location information and registered location information at the time of installation of the POS terminal 1 coincide with each other. A function of the POS terminal 1 is stopped in the case that the present location information and the registered location information of the POS terminal 1 don't coincide with each other, and execution of the function of the POS terminal 1 is permitted in the case that the present location information and the registered location information of the POS terminal 1 coincide with each other.
