PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium on which the over-writing of a high-density recording pattern finer than with the diameter of a spot can be performed more stably by an optical modulation system. SOLUTION: In an optical recording medium which has at least a memory layer, a write-in layer, an isolation layer and an initialization layer, and is used in an information recording method in which after a recording area having a fixed length is formed with a first irradiation pulse, the over-writing of a recording mark having a plurality of lengths corresponding to information is performed by erasing the rear part of the formed recording area with a second irradiation pulse after the passage of a scan distance corresponding to the information, this optical recording medium is characterized in that the memory layer is composed of first and second layers having different Curie temperatures and when respective Curie temperatures are defined respectively as Tm1 and Tm2, the medium has a relation of Tm2>Tm1.
