摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method effective for highly precisely estimating and evaluating the plastic deformation hardness of boundary lubricating films on the basis of values measured with a nano indenter. SOLUTION: This method for measuring the plastic deformation hardness of boundary lubricating films comprises a process for measuring metals having various Vickers hardnesses with the nanoindenter to form load displacement curves, reading loads at a specific amount of displacement present within amounts of displacement between 15-80 nm, plotting points of load and of Vickers hardness to a graph having the loads in the axis of abscissas and Vickers hardnesses in the axis of ordinate, and previously creating a calibration curve made of a smooth curve connecting the points through an origin; a process for drawing a tangential line in the vicinity of an amount of displacement of 15 nm in a load displacement curve acquired by indenting the surface of a slide member, in which a boundary lubricating film is formed, with a diamond indenter of the nanoindenter and reading loads on the tangent line at an amount of displacement selected when the calibration curve is drawn; and a process for reading Vickers hardnesses corresponding to values of the loads on the basis of the calibration curve.
