PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discriminate a pitch mark as a standard of a length cutting position imparted to a traveling sheet in a short time. SOLUTION: A unidimensional CCD camera 8 is arranged for continuously photographing a width directional visual field including a sheet width edge part to which a line mark 5 and a pitch mark 4 of a traveling corrugated board sheet 1 are imparted and a sheet outside part on the outside of the sheet width edge part, and performs image processing for binarizing output in respective width directional parts of the visual field photographed by the unidimensional CCD camera 8 in a light part and a dark part. On image-processed unidimensional binarized data, the pitch mark 4 can be surely discriminated in a short time by simple unidimensional image processing by detecting a dark part existing traveling directional position continuing in the width direction to its sheet inside and having its continuing length falling within a predetermined numeric value range, as an imparting position of the picth mark 4, in the sheet innermost side width directional part continuing in the dark part in the traveling direction of the corrugated board sheet 1.
